2023: That Is a Wrap!

2023 wrap-up and looking to 2024

21 December 2023

That’s a wrap on 2023!  Peachy has had an amazing year colour grading some fantastic projects – and we’re so excited about what 2024 will bring our way.

First, a note from our Founder and Peachy senior colourist Angela Cerasi:

Hi friends,

A wee note to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for your continued support of Peachy Keen Colour. A small business created from the seed of an idea that filmmakers should be able to access world-class colourists, no matter where they are located, and do so with a delightfully easy process. A company which values health and well-being for staff and clients above all!

With that in mind, we wish you a very restful holiday full of things which bring you joy. Say no to a few more social obligations, curl up on the couch, crank the air-con (or fans!) and lose yourself in some inspiring, engaging and moving films.

In another exciting year of collaborating with incredible teams, we’ve loved every project. Let’s jump into some highlights of 2023 (it was hard to choose)!

Produced by Warner Bros. Australia for Paramount Plus, The Betoota Advocate, hosted by Errol Parker and Clancy Overall, explores Australia’s modern history, addressing corruption, money, religion, and tribalism. Peachy graded live-action footage, animations, and interviews, highlighting the satirical comedy in the series.

Dawn of the Dolphins, a Stan Original documentary series, follows legendary coach Wayne Bennett as he prepares the Queensland-based Dolphins for their inaugural NRL season. Remotely graded by Peachy, the focus for this series wasn’t to be a ‘brand film.’ Rather, keep the interviews natural to bring out the human quality but add a point of difference to the team training to give it a unique visual style. The colours we leaned into were white, sand, and red – reflecting the team colours.  To read more about the visual look breakdown you can read Ange’s blog about the colour grade here.

A Savage Christmas, an Australian comedy drama about identity, family and healing at Christmas time. Peachy collaborated closely with the producers and graded entirely remotely.  You can watch during your break on Binge.

We also graded this incredible documentary, Living with Devils, featuring filmmaker Simon Plowright as he spends a year living with Tasmanian Devils.  You can watch this now on ABC iView.

On the commercial front, Peachy collaborated on the vibrant Kailis Jewellery “RISE Act IV” campaign with Rhythm Films, capturing the scenic Margaret River region.

Brisbane Colourist Angela Cerasi colour graded this shot of model/ muse Aude Mangharam wearing statement pieces of Kailis Jewellery as she lies on the beach, for the "RISE Act IV" TVC campaign for Kailis Jewellery

For the same team, Peachy loved grading this Tourism WA branded content piece “Drive the Dream with Daniel Ricciardo”, featuring some more incredibly stunning Australian scenery.

Earlier in the year, Peachy was thrilled to grade the Living Gems “Lottery” campaign in collaboration with Theola agency/production house. The inspiration for this grade was the TV show “The White Lotus.” The vibe is a natural monotone, with desaturated green undertones at the beginning and transitioning to a golden, warm tone at the end.

At Peachy Keen Colour we’re big believers in work-life balance and taking breaks (hence our flexible workflow model).  So we hope you all have a great festive break and take some time to rest, recuperate and spend some time with family (or enjoy some glorious alone time if that’s what you need)! We look forward to catching up and collaborating on some more amazing projects in 2024!
