Angela Cerasi from Peachy Keen Colour graded this look at the incredible story of 8-time world champion canoeist Jessica Fox – from reluctant paddler and teenage sensation to an all-time great chasing her place in Olympic history.

Kayaker Jessica Fox was born in Marseille, France in 1994 to decorated canoeist parents – her father Richard Fox in England and her mother Myriam Fox-Jerusalmi from France.  She moved with her family to Australia at the age of four and was beating competitors five years older than her at 13.  She became a five-time Junior World Champion and paddled in the Games, winning a silver medal in London in 2012.  She won 10 gold medals, three silvers and three bronze medals at the World Championship level, making her the most successful paddler, male or female, in World Championship history.

She made the most of her forced rest in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  She became known on social media for her creative home workouts – using her two 9kg+ kayaks in lieu of dumbbells as she performed her squats, press-ups and shoulder presses.  This paid off as she won a gold medal in Tokyo.  She then won a record 14th World Championship title in 2023.  An incredible career, which has only just begun!

The colour grade involved tying together archive footage as well as new interview and cutaway action shots.  Angela chose a slightly different colour grade vibe for each location – the Paris footage was warm, Tokyo was graded with rich blues and Penrith was lush with warm greens.
