Angela Cerasi’s colour grade emphasised beautiful bold and warm feels for this 2020 TV commercial for Mater Mothers. The Mothers Day commercial which tells a heartwarming story of the journey of motherhood.
Mater Mothers Hospital is based in Brisbane and is part of the Mater Group of hospitals. Mater Hospital was established to support the healthcare needs of the Brisbane community in 1911. Mater Mothers Hospital is part of Australia’s largest maternity service and boasts state-of-the-art facilities and a comprehensive selection of support services.
The incredible images for the “Celebrating Mothers” campaign were captured by DOP and director Hailey Bartholomew.
The advertising campaign was spearheaded by Brainheart. “Mater Mothers” began as a Mother’s Day ad for Mater Mothers Hospital and according to writer and agency producer Rem Bruijn, got promoted to being an on-going ‘brand’ ad for the foreseeable future, from the moment the script was presented. Rem Brujin talked about the process of producing the TVC in a LinkedIn post:
“I feel so fortunate and grateful to have such a wonderful client who enthusiastically supported us to put so much into creating a simple human bit of storytelling. Every aspect of the process was enjoyable and uncompromised. Thanks especially to the creative team who collaborated with passion and absolute professionalism to bring this to life”.
This commercial was shot just before the lockdown and halt of production due to Covid-19. Luckily we already had our streamlined remote workflow set up so the colour grade could continue as planned between Sydney – Brisbane – Gold Coast. The director Hailey Bartholomew from You Can’t Be Serious did a beautiful job creating this poignant and moving TVC for Mater Mother’s. We went for a rich, warm look – the contrasting colours of teal and terracotta always make for a gorgeous image.
Angela loved grading this gorgeous bold and warm TVC! To see another commercial directed by Hailey Bartholomew with the colour grade by Peachy Keen Colour, check out this one for Tourism Queensland, “Days Like This”. The brief for the Tourism Queensland TVC was also for a warm, bold grade.
